| “Housing with HEART” complements JHC's belief in building better communities by building better family life for the residents of those communities. In the long-term, increasing the range of choices, programs and services available to low-income families has, and will continue to have, a positive impact on the economic integration of neighborhoods throughout California. |
 |
| This creates a better jobs-and housing balance, while serving as a positive influence on the family by creating shorter commutes, providing better schools and offering many of the programs, services and opportunities often afforded to those only in higher income brackets. |

For these and other JHC community residents, the need for these programs cannot be overstated:
Few central-city students have access to technology – some of the most important skills to possess in today's knowledge-driven economy.
The elderly - often due to language barriers or other restrictions - do not have the full benefit of programs such as Medicare.
To meet these, and countless other community needs, “Housing with HEART” offers age-appropriate, “family life” programs and services tailored to each JHC community and its residents. Residents are actively involved, volunteering for after-school tutoring, Boy Scout leadership and other important roles. The program also maintains strategic partnerships with schools, churches, nonprofit, civic and community organizations to assist its residents in sustaining their self-sufficiency. These partnerships afford residents a full complement of programs, classes and services related to parenting, education, emergency food and rental assistance, health, employment and more. Most of these programs and services are offered at no cost to residents.
“Housing with HEART” is intent upon expanding its reach and its programs. With your help, Housing with HEART” seeks to subsidize new and existing programs.
New program sites are being developed at multi-family properties in Corona , Sacramento , Irvine , Long Beach and Lancaster . Along with sustaining present programs, “Housing with HEART” seeks to expand its resident programs to include art and music classes, outdoor recreational activities and smaller student-to-staff ratios aimed at enhancing the learning environment with more individualized attention.
